runDisney has announced the dates for the 2020 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend. Though registration doesn’t open to the general public until March 10, 2020, here is the inside scoop on how you can register TODAY!
Who among us doesn’t love sampling new foods from all over the world the night before a big race? For runners with a wild side, runDisney offers up a little Epcot International Food & Wine Festival action coupled with a fan-favorite race weekend, Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend.
Wine & Dine half marathon weekend is crazy.
I said it. I meant it.
I’ll be honest, while Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend has a complicated history that includes washouts, a very well deserved nickname as the “runDisney Splash & Dash” for a year with a shortened race through the pouring rain, and a transition from a night run (THE BEST!) to a standard crow-before-the-roosters runDisney early morning slogfest, It still holds my heart as my favorite runDisney race weekend!
The themes have made quite the transition over the years. The Challenge race for the weekend has experienced a major, mid-lifeish identity crisis. The schedule makes very very little sense, with a celebratory party on a Sunday night after several days of early mornings. I mean, it’s a bit of a mess.
AND SO AM I, Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend. So am I.
This was the first 13.1 that I ran with my baby sister after she made a major lifestyle change. We laughed and cried and did the “Leeeeeaaan and go” on the hills of the overpasses. We did it together and it was absolutely everything.
Another year, it was the race weekend where I finally decided to represent my favorite suffragette, much to the chagrin of my race partners. Sidenote: I don’t recommend running a 10k with a gigantic hat. It’s doable, but it’s silly.
Right now, friends from all over the country are heading south for Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon weekend 2019. It was a gross miscalculation to skip out on this year’s race (on the bright side, I’ll be down just a few days after for Disney Parks Moms Panel Reunion 2019, WOOT) because the swag is incredible! Just check out the medal for the 10th Anniversary race. Swoon.
What is the best way to nurse a serious case of FOMO? Well, clearly it’s a race registration!
